  1. Stay relevant. This can only be achieved my creating new means of being reliable while generating income in the process in whatever field you’re in.

  2. ALWAYS pay yourself first and invest frequently. You should never have idle money, have your money work for you and make you MORE money.

  3. Learn to say NO: all expenses eventually boil down to a struggle between our hearts (emotion) and our head (logic). By learning to say NO assertively, consistently and determinedly, you will be amazed by how much you’d be saving! #smartmoneywitharese #smartmoneymantra

  4. I have realised that no success can be made by not taking risks… so my eyes are always opened bcos anything around me can be an inspiration for investment.
I just allow my passion drive me.

“There is a Billion in a Kobo”
I had got the mentality that how much am I earning that I want to save not to talk of invest, but recently my mindset changed that every penny saved and wisely invested would compound and multiply. so have learned to develop a saving and investment mentality,However no amount is too little to save or invest!
    #Law of potential
    Thank you for this opportunity.

  6. I have learnt to save while my income is small so by the time I start earning more, I would have mastered the act; because Its really about how much money I can save for when I can’t earn anymore.

      1. If I cannot afford 2 of it, I cannot afford it.
Example, I really need a car. Without a car, Lagos stress is 10 times worse. I’ve saved enough to get a good enough car (not brand new), but I’ll wouldn’t have enough left for emergencies (I have enough for basic needs). But how do you measure emergencies? So I like to think “If I cannot afford to buy two of it, I cannot afford it”.

Also, will you consider a car a liability? It’s obviously not an asset (in my opinion), but it’s a necessity, definitely not luxury (except you want a car for the name and rave and not really the functionality)

  13. 10percent of my income goes to God first, I buy stuff that I NEED, and I save like I will lose my source of income at any minute.

  14. 10percent of my total earnings go to God, I do not live above what I earn, I invest some of it, I save as much as I can and I live my life.

  15. You can make a knock-off chanel bag, but you can’t knock off the level of your investment. Investing your money provides a future beyond the status quo..#smartmoneymantra #smartmoneywitharese

  16. #smartmoneymantra
“I always write a list… I go through,I ask myself do I really need this…if not it gets crossed off the list”

  17. Tithe 10% of my income, Save 60% monthly, live on 30%, at the end of the year, gratify end of the year or move it to the next year. If I daily live under my income, i get to appreciate the little things in life.

  18. #smartmoneymantra
    Time is money they say.
I Maximize every little bit of my time and avoid making a waste of any
Pratically, if I’m having a conversation and I find out that it doesn’t get me anything profitable I cut it halfway and focus on something else. If its a meeting or social gathering I may walk out politely especially if its not on invitation
I avoid unecesary phone interruptions like in meetings. I prefer to tackle tasks in the immediate instead of piling them up. I carefully plan my daily activities each month and assign myself targets.

  19. Time is money they say. I maximize every little bit of my time and avoid making a waste of any
Practically, I avoid engaging in conversations that won’t profit me
if its a meeting or social gathering I may politely walkout especially if it is not on invitation. I avoid unnecessary phone interruptions. I tackle tasks in the immediate or delegate instead of piling up. I carefully plan my daily activities each month and assign myself targets.

  20. First of all, plan. It’s how you can manage and watch what you get and what you spend. Planning comes with sacrifice, you cut your excesses and focus on what you really need. Spoil yourself once in a while, but let that always be in your plan. Also, let your money work for you by tithing because it is God who gives & multiplies. Money is not everything, with hard work, dedication and excellence at your task, you can always make it to the top!

  21. Mantra: A penny saved is a penny earned.

I have a fixed amount i spend every month and that which i put aside for savings each month. However some months i have to save a little extra towards different things. For example if my mum’s birthday is coming up and i have to get her a gift, i estimate how much i would need and i save towards it and when its time, i go ahead and use the money i already saved so its not stressful and i don’t have to worry about being broke. If its a new shoe or dress or anything i really want, i apply the same method and its been working for me.

I find that with this method its so much easier for me to be in charge of my income, expenses and savings.

    Thank you for this opportunity.

  22. Budgeting is primal, but results can only be delivered when it is implemented. Create, a budget; make it fun and playful, concise or detailed. Whichever way, it must be efficient.

  23. “I tell you the truth:Unless money is invested, the amount remains constant. But if it is invested, it reproduces itself many times over.”

I liken money to a grain. Take a grain of corn for instance. When you store it, it remains alone…and can begin to depreciate in value (gets harder, takes longer to cook, pest infested etc) if it is not properly stored. But when it is planted, it springs forth bearing much more harvest.
A corn grain when planted produces a corn plant which can have up to five ears of corn. Scientifically, the average ear of corn has approximately 400 to 600 grains (Iowa State University, Agronomy extension). We can thereby estimate that a grain of corn that is planted, can produce approximately 2000 to 3000 grains. Compare this to the grain that was not planted which remains constant as 1 grain!
In the same light, when you invest money, it increases…otherwise it remains constant at the same amount. So, invest, invest and invest some more! But in all your investing, be smart!
    Have a great day

  24. Most of us know the financial buzzwords of budgeting, saving, giving and investing but only few of us who end up wealthy do them, do you?

  25. The key to financial freedom is simple – have multiple streams of income (challenge yourself to engage in multiple profit making business pursuits), save (at least 30% of your income) and then most importantly invest wisely (money saved in the bank is merely a means to an end and not the end itself).

    Abridged version:
The key to financial freedom is simple – have multiple streams of income, save and then most importantly invest wisely.

  26. Most people know the buzzwords – budgeting, saving, giving and investing but only few of us, on the path to financial freedom do them, do you?

  27. You attract by becoming an attractive person. Work harder on yourself than you do on your job. If you work hard on your job,you can make a living, but if you work hard on yourself, you can make a fortune.

  28. I don’t believe in unemployment, neither do I think that the government is to blame if there are poor people in the society
You don’t need someone to get you a job if you can create one yourself and be your own boss with or without capital. Ideas are never extinguished…think of what you can do very well and put it at work, make it a source of income. Those at the top may have started at the bottom so never despise little beginnings

  29. MY SMART MONEY MANTRA – I pay my 10% Tithe, I give to the needy, then I allocate money into my different bank accounts that I have created for different expenses and goals e.g I want to go on vacation by September. Then I pay myself the rest as salary.

  30. I push a certain percentage of the income from my 9 to 5 job into short term physical investment and channel the accumulated returns over a stipulated period of time to things I’m passionate about (retail) while also taking advantage of investment schemes available to be as a banker. There! I have created multiple sources of income. #smartmoneymantra

  31. I push a certain percentage of the income from my 9 to 5 job into short term physical investment then channel the accumulated returns over a period of time into things I’m passionate about (retail) while also taking advantage of the investment schemes available to me as an employee of Bank X to invest rerurns gathered from the various channels.

The fear of the rat race (the routine of working a 9-5job, getting the salary, paying bills and having nothing left till the next pay day) motivates me, to get out of it I need to balance my profession with my passion (pharmacist, interior designer, gift/souvenirs retailer) and be proficient in accounting and investing.

  33. Learning to pay myself first no matter the circumstance; saving these payments and investing the better chunk of these savings to compound even while I sleep is one future-proofing wealth lesson I never trivialize.

  34. Don’t allow your money to sleep
    Make it work for you
Investing it wisely into quality is the surest way of getting it back….double
